MANILA, Phlippines -- (UPDATE 2 - 10:30 a.m.) A man committed suicide by jumping onto the tracks as a train was pulling into the Metro Rail Transit's Guadalupe station in Makati City Wednesday morning.
The suicide, confirmed by the MRT and the Department of Transportation and Communication, happened around 8:15 a.m. and prompted the suspension of the mass transit system's southern half, from Guadalupe to Edsa-Taft in Pasay City.
Reports said after jumping down, the man gripped the rails as the train pulled in.
The DOTC's official Twitter account (@DOTCPhilippines) said trains are running only between the North Avenue and Shaw Boulevard stations and the "provisional operation" would be in effect "until further notice."
