Metro Manila residents complaining of cold weather in recent days may
have to brace for even lower temperatures – as low as 20 degrees
Celsius, state weather forecasters said Thursday.
PAGASA forecaster Samuel Duran said this is due to the northeast monsoon peaking at this time of the year.
"Ang peak ng amihan (northeast monsoon) ay mararanasan ngayong January
hanggang first week ng February. Usually pababa [ang temperature]
hanggang 20 [degrees Celsius]," Duran said in an interview on dzBB
radio.
A report on "Unang Hirit" early Thursday said temperatures in Metro Manila went down to 20.2o C as of 5 a.m.
Duran also noted Wednesday's lowest temperature was at 22.4o C. Last Tuesday, it was as low as 21.3o C, he added.
Earlier, PAGASA said the cold weather may last until February before the weather starts to get warmer.
But even then, PAGASA forecasters said the cold mornings may even last all the way to early March.
